Agency is a Useful Concept

Posted: July 25, 2013 in Anthony Shell

Agency is the active operation, effective, powerful action {from the Latin, Agentem}. Agency is also the power and duty of act. The power and duty to act in pursuit of your goals. This means that agency is the self actively operating. Agency is very powerful and it works on different levels.

I’ve been applying for several jobs and I just got hired today for maintenance by using my references, this gave me the chance to navigate forward. If I don’t support myself then who will. Acting or agency allowed this to happen. A few months ago I went to a scholarship workshop for college and this will help me out financially, I can buy books for a very cheap price and I can have a few bucks in my pocket. But I would not have gotten help if I did not go and seek it. Agency helped me pay for college. I also picked up an application for a passport from the Post Office. I will purchase it during the Christmas vacation. The reason why I want to get the passport is because I want to see my family in Belize but I won’t be able to see my family in Belize if I don’t act.

This tool is considered to be marketable for people to fight obstacles. I can defeat what the next person says by accomplishing my goals. Regardless of what the next person says I can still get things done by ignoring them and acting.

In conclusion, agency is useful and is a powerful weapon that protect us from the obstacles we face in life.

As Is

“What is that which always is and has no becoming; and what is that which is always becoming and never is?”

People are that which always are and have no becoming; and people are that which are always becoming and never are. I answer this question this way because this is my theory of life. In my life, I have experienced limitations. By learning about the limitations placed on me I’m able to overcome and break them down.

A person can become stuck or kept in the “always is and not becoming” if an individual is lacking in education then it would be difficult for him or her to receive employment. Additionally, due to the recession employers are frequently laying people off from their jobs, which leave qualified employees who can’t find work. Finally, when I apply for jobs, the employment agencies do background checks and once they find out that I have a criminal history they deny me for the position.

Every day I tell myself that my accomplishments can be achieved if I focus hard enough. I encourage people by telling them that they can succeed in major events. By constantly working, a person will continue to grow or “become”, and will not stay stagnant in one identity.

Some examples of how a person can be “always becoming and never is” are a person who drops out of High school who can easily lose focus and will be unemployed or have poor employment opportunities. However if that person should enroll themselves back in school to be a productive member of society, they won’t be stuck in that predicament. A person who is unable to find employment due to the recession can enroll themselves back in school to obtain the skills that will make them more marketable in the workforce. Self-employment can be another opportunity. As a person with a criminal history, I rely on resources, such as the Fortune Society to help me build my resume and gain experience in the field that I am interested in. I can also go back to school to get more skills and this can make me more desirable to employers. Education and skills can also give me the opportunity to employ myself.

In conclusion, people can be stuck in one situation, but find their way to success. They must have the desire to work hard and be willing to learn new skills. A person doesn’t have to remain limited. They can be constantly growing by learning new skills and pushing themself beyond their limitations.

My goal is to get my Bachelor’s Degree in filming. Getting a Bachelor’s Degree will make me more marketable in the field of filming. I am also tired of my parents supporting me. I just want to be on my own for a change. A job can lead me in the right direction. I can become independent and responsible by paying my own bills on time.

I can also obtain knowledge and skill in my Career field by paying attention to the professors as their speaking to the class. Good note taking will be essential for me in order to remember what’s covered in class. I would also have the opportunity to learn how to operate on the latest film equipment.

Getting a Bachelor’s Degree in filming will give me a sense of achievement because by writing down my goals and following it through, will let me know that I accomplish anything I put my mind to.

In August of this year will be my first year of college and I want to have a good GPA along with good attendance so that I can eventually get my Bachelor’s Degree.
